Frequently Asked Questions
Find quick answers about how RampCalcTool behaves in practice and where its limits are.
Is RampCalcTool free to use?
Yes. Right now RampCalcTool is free to use. You can run calculations, review the checklist, and export specifications without creating an account or entering payment details.
What codes does RampCalcTool check against?
RampCalcTool focuses on U.S. accessibility requirements for ramps based on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the International Building Code (IBC) for accessible routes. The checks cover common ramp conditions but are not an exhaustive model of every jurisdiction or edge case.
How accurate are the calculations?
Calculations are implemented directly from the relevant ADA and IBC text and typical industry practice. For standard ramp layouts, results should match what you would obtain by hand. However, codes change over time and local amendments can be stricter, so always verify critical designs with your local authority having jurisdiction (AHJ).
Can I export my calculations?
Yes. You can export the ramp summary, notes, and checklist to PDF and DOCX formats so they can be attached to drawings, submittals, or internal review packages.
Can I save and share my calculations?
Not during the public beta. We have hidden sign-in, saving, and sharing while we focus on the core calculator and exports. You can still generate PDF/DOCX packages to share outside the app.
Will RampCalcTool always be free?
RampCalcTool is currently free while we refine the calculator and documentation. In the future we may introduce a paid Pro plan for heavy users who need clean exports and additional features. However, we expect to keep a useful free version available so you can always run basic ramp checks.
Does this count as legal or code interpretation advice?
No. RampCalcTool is a productivity aid, not legal advice, a formal code interpretation, or a substitute for a licensed design professional. You remain responsible for confirming that your design complies with all applicable codes, standards, and local amendments.
